We had a Family Reunion there when I was 12, back in 1960. Friars in brown robes and visitors such as my family and I everywhere. The only thing missing to my mind as a kid were the roller coasters and that sort of thing. It was a bit like Sunday at Lincoln Park in Chicago, only with a lot of religious art scattered here and there. Evidently the place has had its ups and downs in the years since. Currently I understand it is not occupied but at least minimally maintained. I'd go there tomorrow were I not 2300 miles away. The town of Burlington itself I recall as being a little like Andy Griffith's. Mayberry. No idea what it would be like there now, 55 years later.
